PCED Y2K Update
We have identified two year 2000-related problems with PCED version 2.1. One problem is with CDIR (the add-on directory listing utility) and is cosmetic only. The second problem, even though it will not affect most PCED users, is potentially somewhat more serious. Examples of the two errors are shown below; at the bottom of the page you can download a free update that fixes both errors. Note that the update is for PCED version 2.1 only. Updates for earlier versions are not available.
![]() CED PROMPT "&p &m-&d-&y" to display the current
date. Note that the year is displayed incorrectly when the date is set to 1/1/2000. For the
year 2000 only, PCED's &y variable is replaced by ":0" instead of "00".

When &y is used in the PCED prompt (as in the sample), the problem is cosmetic only. However, the error may cause problems for some users if it is used for other purposes (e.g., to create date-based filenames.) This error is corrected by the free update to PCED 2.10(A4), available below. |
This sample shows a screen capture of a CDIR 2.10(A1) directory listing. The listing shows three files, dated in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Note that the date of the second file (2000.TXT) is displayed as "01-01-:0" rather than as "01-01-00". The dates for the 1999 and 2001 files are shown correctly, and the listing is sorted correctly. |
