FGREP
FGREP is a very fast DOS-based text searching utility. It quickly searches files, directories, and directory trees for text that you specify. It has many search and output options and is well suited for both manual searches and use in automated processes such as batch and make files. And by fast, we mean fast: on our 200MHz Pentium, it is able to search over 120 unindexed text files (totalling more than 2MB) in well under a second.
The sample below shows the results of searching for the text RunWinTutor in all *.CPP
and *.H files in the current directory. The output is in "Microsoft" format, which users of
Microsoft tools will readily recognize. This format can be understood and processed by a
variety of programming tools.

FGREP is free for personal use and can be inexpensively licensed for other uses, including redistribution with your own products.
